Special Hardship Order (QLD)
A Special Hardship Order (SHO) is different from a Work Licence. It generally applies to drivers suspended due to high speed offences or points accumulation. Eligibility is strict and requires proving "extreme hardship".
Understanding Limited Driving
An SHO doesn't give you your full licence back. It is an order allowing you to drive for specific purposes only (like work or essential family needs) under strict conditions.
Important Note
You cannot get an SHO for drink driving suspensions. That falls under Work Licences (Restricted) or is not applicable for high-range offences.
Common Eligibility Triggers
You may be able to apply for an SHO if your licence is suspended for one of the following reasons:
- High Speed Offence: Suspension for driving more than 40km/h over the speed limit.
- Demerit Points: Suspension for accumulating too many demerit points (or breaching a Good Behaviour Bond).
